Independent Music accounted for nearly a third of all CD sales in 2000 and there is no reason to believe that the trend toward "unsigned bands" will not continue. For those of you who are new to indie music, the concept is simple. Before bands appear on MTV, headline arena tours, or become household names, they are indie bands. Indie simply means unsigned. It does not mean that the band is necessarily inferior or unable to break into the music business. The term indie simply means that, at the present time, the band or musician does not have the financial support of a major record label. The purpose of indie reviews online is to provide unsigned artists with an honest opinion of their CDs and to provide consumers with the opportunity to discover great musical talent and to save them from some muscial talent that is not so great. Why Me? Well, that is a great question and one that I get a lot (especially from bands with less than stellar reviews). My name is Andrew Stevenson. I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. My collegiate choice brought me to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where I earned a degree in entertainment marketing in 1995. Immediately after I college, I found myself working as a talent scout for Sony. I was employed by Sony until June, 2000. My wife had our first child, Chelsea, and we decided to take a few years off to bond with our daughter. I decided that this would be a great opportunity to get back to my passion in music and use my experience and love of music to help bands and music consumers alike.
